City Smart Block
Turns your site into ready-to-compare city block concepts — streets,
buildings, parking and green space — and creates the scheme you choose
as native Revit elements you can remove with one undo.
What it does
Generates a complete urban concept from your site boundary: street
network, blocks, buildings, sidewalks, trees, lights and parking.
Lets you steer the character of the plan — street pattern, block
sizes, density, building heights and skyline shape, courtyards,
setbacks, passages and rooftop terraces.
Measures every option as you go: walkability, how well the streets
connect, what people can see as they move through the plan, and
early-design indicators for sun, sky view, wind and heat.
Generates ranked design alternatives so you can compare schemes and
apply the strongest one.
Creates real Revit elements — floors for roads and sidewalks, massing
or floor plates for buildings, curtain systems, planting, lighting
and parking — grouped so a single undo removes the whole scheme.
How to use
Open a project and prepare a site: draw a closed loop of model
lines, or use a floor, toposolid or mass with a usable top face.
Optionally draw model lines where the main roads should run.
Launch City Smart Block. In Studio, pick the site face or the
closed loop, and pick the road lines if you drew them.
Click Regenerate preview and inspect the plan in 2D or 3D. Use
the layer switches to look at roads, buildings, density, parking and
analysis results separately.
Shape the plan in the other screens: Fabric for street pattern
and block sizes, Massing for density and skyline, Mobility
for walkability, Space syntax for visibility studies,
Environment for terrain and climate indicators, and
Roads + parking for corridors and parking layouts.
Open Explore to generate ranked alternatives, apply a promising
one, and preview again.
In Revit output, choose the element types and materials to
create, then click Create in Revit. One undo removes the entire
scheme.
Good to know
Previewing never changes your model. Only Create in Revit does,
and the whole run is one undo step.
Every generated element is tagged with its scheme name, so you can
select, replace or delete a scheme later without touching the rest of
the model.
The same settings always reproduce the same plan, so results are
repeatable and easy to share.
Sun, sky, wind and heat indicators are early-design comparisons for
weighing options against each other — not engineering simulations.
Your setup saves automatically, and you can export it as a small file
to reuse on other projects or share with your team. Site boundaries
and roads can also be imported from common mapping files.
An illustrated, step-by-step guide is included with the plugin in its
