InfraLand
InfraLand is a site and landscape workspace for Revit. It reads the terrain, planting, site and utility content already loaded in your project and turns it into placed planting, divided parcels, road surfaces, pipe runs, slope and clearance checks, and numbered plan sheets. Every action that changes the model is one Revit undo step, and every layout can be previewed before anything is created.
When to use it
- Early site studies: check slopes, aspect, water flow and accessible area on a terrain before committing to a grading idea.
- Planting and site furniture: place trees, shrubs, lights, bollards or benches along a path, inside a boundary, or scattered across a surface, with spacing, clearance and slope rules, and weighted species mixes.
- Land subdivision: divide a plot into parcels by parallel, radial or drawn lot lines, then number, label and schedule them.
- Roads and utilities: draw road surfaces from centrelines or let InfraLand propose a connected network inside a plot; draw pipe runs and check them for open ends and clearance conflicts.
- Documentation: cut cropped plan views along an alignment and place them on numbered sheets in one go.
How to run it
Open your project in Revit and launch InfraLand from BimCode's plugin list. The window opens beside Revit and stays open while you work. The header shows the project and view it is reading; click Refresh after loading new families or changing your selection.
The screens
- Overview shows which kinds of content the project already has and opens each tool.
- Terrain reads the surfaces you selected in Revit and reports area, elevation range and slope bands; you can export a report or a LandXML surface, import one, and adjust retaining walls.
- Performance checks aspect, flow paths and catchments on a terrain, draws hardscape floors with paver quantities, fills a terrain with planting under slope and elevation rules, places sprinkler grids, and offers channel and canopy calculators.
- Landscape and Mixes place families along a path, inside a closed loop, or on a surface: pick the geometry in Revit, choose the family (or a weighted mix), set spacing and clearance, Preview the layout, then Create it. Existing planting can be aligned onto a surface.
- Parcels divides a selected plot into lots that meet your minimum area, frontage, width and depth, previews the result, then creates Revit Areas or filled regions with labels and tables.
- Roads previews and creates road floors from selected centrelines or a proposed network inside a plot.
- Utilities draws pipe runs from selected centrelines and checks pipes for open ends, slope and clearance.
- Sheets creates cropped plan views along selected alignment lines and places them on numbered sheets with your title block.
- Site tools holds the small everyday commands: set or label the elevation of model lines, rotate or number a selection, draw contours, measure lengths, estimate cut and fill, outline objects, create a planting schedule, and import a coordinate list.
- Settings saves your setup as the default and exports or imports it as a file so a team can share one standard.
Hover over any button for two seconds to see what it does, what it needs selected, and, when it is greyed out, what is still missing.
Good to know
- Preview never changes the model. Creation revalidates the geometry, so change a setting and preview again before creating.
- Selection happens in Revit: pick curves or surfaces first, then run the command. Model lines, detail lines, arcs and splines are accepted for paths and boundaries; floors, roofs, toposolids, ramps and terrain for surfaces. Linked models and vertical faces are not supported.
- Property lines as a plot boundary need Revit 2027 or newer; on Revit 2025 draw the plot as a closed model line loop instead.
- Family and level choices are stored by project. After importing a setup from another project, refresh and re-pick any blank family, level or title block.
- Performance figures, earthwork quantities and channel capacities are early-design estimates for comparison, not engineering deliverables.
- Test a new setup on a copy of the project first, and review joins, hosts and schedules before issuing.
