Translation Tool

Translates your project text — notes, tags, room and level names, views and sheets — between eleven languages entirely on your computer, with a preview so you approve every change before it is applied.

How to use

  1. Open Translation Tool from Revit with your project open.
  2. Under Scope, choose what to translate: the active view, your current selection, or the whole project.
  3. Pick the From and To languages. Auto-detect works well when the source text is in one consistent language.
  4. Choose the output: replace the original, keep original and translation together, or write the translation to a separate parameter so the original stays untouched.
  5. Tick the content to scan — text notes, tag labels, level names, rooms, spaces and areas, view and sheet names, or named text parameters.
  6. Click Preview translation. Nothing changes yet: every proposed translation appears in a table with its status.
  7. Review the table, untick anything you don't want, and click any row to select and show that element in Revit.
  8. Click Apply selected. The whole pass is grouped as one step in Revit Undo, so you can reverse it in one click.

Good to know

  • Everything happens on your computer — no project text is sent online.
  • The built-in dictionary covers 1,129 building-industry concepts in English, French, Arabic, Greek, German, Italian, Spanish, Swedish, Norwegian, Japanese, and Chinese: 500 room and space names across 17 building functions, 296 mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment names, 200 architectural planning and detailing terms, and a core of everyday drawing and construction terminology.
  • Numbers can be localized too — Arabic output can use Arabic-Indic digits, and mixed digits are tidied into one consistent form.
  • Text that is already bilingual can be skipped automatically, so running the same pass twice is safe.
  • Add your own terminology: export the dictionary as a spreadsheet file, add or adjust rows — even a whole new language — and import it back. Your wording overrides the built-in entries.
  • Save complete setups by name, or export a setup file to share with your team or reuse on another workstation.
  • Preview is always read-only, and values that cannot be changed safely are marked read-only instead of touched. One failed value never discards the rest of an apply.
  • The Help screen inside the plugin covers tags, output modes, custom dictionaries, and quality-assurance tips for issue documents.
