Align Views on Sheets
Align Views on Sheets automatically lines up the same view across every sheet it appears on — floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, sections, and more — so drawings match from sheet to sheet instead of being nudged into place by hand, one at a time. Pick one sheet as the reference, choose which other sheets should match it, and the plugin moves every view into place in a single step, whether that's two sheets or two hundred.
How to use
- Open your project in Revit and launch Align Views on Sheets from BimCode.
- Pick the sheet and view that's already in the right position — this is your reference.
- Choose how sheets should line up: by a shared point in the model, or by matching an edge or centerline (left, center, right, top, middle, or bottom).
- Pick the sheets you want aligned. The plugin already suggests the closest matching view on each one, so just review the suggestions — search to narrow a long list, or use Select Matching to grab every compatible sheet at once.
- Review the preview. It lays your reference sheet and the target sheets side by side, in the same paper coordinates, so you can see exactly how far each view is about to move before anything changes.
- Choose how the move is applied: snap each view straight to its new position, or move it by the exact distance and direction needed. Both land the view in exactly the same spot — pick whichever fits how you like to work.
- Click apply. Every sheet updates in one step, so a single Undo puts everything back if you change your mind.
Good to know
- Matching by model point works for floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, engineering plans, elevations, sections, and 3D views — any view tied to a real position in the model.
- Matching by edge or centerline works on any view placed on a sheet, including legends and drafting views.
- Positions are measured from the corner of each sheet's title block by default, so results stay correct even when sheets use different title blocks. You can switch to measuring from the sheet's own origin point instead.
- Views that are already close enough — within a tolerance you can set — are left alone and marked as already aligned.
- Locked (pinned) views are briefly unlocked to move them, then locked again automatically; you don't need to unlock anything yourself first.
- Rotated views and views with different crop regions or print scales are handled correctly.
- Any sheet that can't be matched is skipped and marked with a plain reason why, instead of failing silently.
- In a shared, multi-user project, a view you don't currently have access to is skipped instead of stopping the whole run.
- Aligning a view only changes its position on the sheet — its crop, scale, rotation, and the model itself are never touched.
- The review screen shows totals for how many sheets will move, how many are already aligned, and how many are blocked, before you commit anything.
- Each target sheet gets its own color in the preview so overlapping views are easy to tell apart.
- The distance and direction shown in the preview is exact, not an estimate, so what you review is exactly what gets applied.
- The visual preview shows full detail for up to 24 sheets at a time; a single run can still align up to 5,000 sheets.
- If you change something in Revit while the plugin is open, use Refresh to bring the sheet and view list up to date.
