Generative Building
Builds a complete parametric tower in Revit — massing, floors, core, structure and facade — from sliders, your own outlines or a site boundary, and keeps every tower editable afterwards.
How to use
- Start with one of four visual concepts: Pure form, Soft twist, Elliptic or Terraces. Alternatively, describe a tower to the AI assistant, review its proposal and select Use this concept. Undo concept change restores the previous preview.
- Shape the floor plan, dimensions, floors, floor height, twist and taper. Show advanced reveals the full geometry tools: stacked or picked profiles, plan + elevation, 109 solids, site studies, project levels, podiums, voxel skins and modifiers.
- Detail the facade, core and structure. Advanced controls retain all family types, structural systems, facade generators and offset core rings.
- Build: name the design, choose Massing only or Full building, and expand Choose individual elements when you need more control. Review the preview, then Generate in Revit. A project must be open.
- Saved designs stores and exchanges complete templates. In project manages generated towers and existing masses. Edit restores a tower's recipe; Update in Revit replaces it in place, with version history.
The viewer uses drag to orbit, right-drag to pan, and the wheel to zoom. Use 3D / Front / Top, Fit model, Reset camera, and Focus on model to navigate. Double-click or press F on the canvas to fit; arrow keys pan and +/- zoom. Solid shading is the default; X-ray reveals internal systems, and the grid toggle reveals Revit grids. The camera keeps the design framed until you navigate manually; Fit resumes automatic framing.
AI concept assistant
AI is wired through BimCode's host AI delegate and uses the user's selected Model for AI plugins and existing allowance. No API key, model identifier or provider SDK is embedded in this plugin. The Check AI connection action performs a small real request and reports availability, sign-in or quota errors.
The assistant proposes a single rectangular, elliptical or circular tower, with bounded dimensions, floor count, height, twist, taper, skin, facade and core. The response must pass a strict allowlist and numeric validation before it can be applied. Unknown fields cannot become executable code or Revit ids. Only the entered brief and a small dimension summary are sent; model geometry, project names and element ids are not included. Applying a proposal changes the preview and leaves all Revit creation behind the explicit Build action.
This first AI integration creates starting concepts. Site optimization, engineering checks, arbitrary solids, material rendering and autonomous Revit editing are outside its scope. Manual design and presets work when AI is unavailable, including standalone browser preview.
Good to know
- Nothing touches Revit until you click Generate — the preview is where you design.
- Any conceptual mass in the project, whoever made it, can be adopted from the In project tab: the tool reads its floor outlines and builds the floors, core, structure and facade around it.
- The site study measures every option live — total building area, public realm, lift provision, coverage and plot ratio — plus the sunlight on each facade for your latitude and time of year, with neighbouring buildings you pick casting real shadows. Randomize generates hundreds of options; Optimize breeds them toward the goals you weight. Click a result to load it, then Generate.
- The facade driver re-dresses a generated curtain facade: swap the panel type and drive one panel parameter by pattern — checkerboard, bonds, stripes, gradients, random, Voronoi or sun orientation. The pattern studio does the same for divided surfaces, mixing up to ten tile types on one face and driving tile parameters, including toward attractor elements you pick in the model.
- Every element of a tower carries a hidden id and a readable tag in its Comments, and the mass stores the full recipe with its last ten versions — that is what makes Edit, Update and Restore work, on any machine.
- Templates save an entire setup under a name, and can be exported and imported as files to share with colleagues.
- If a pick did nothing, the outlines must be closed. If nothing shows after Generate, turn on Show Mass on Revit's Massing & Site tab. If no columns, braces or beams appeared, load a structural column family and a framing family first, then Generate again.
